Mustang Men's Hockey earns UCHC victory over Manhattanville

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Mustang Men's Hockey hosted Manhattanville College tonight at Reisterstown Sportsplex. All three goals of the game would come in the second period as the Mustangs came away with the 2-1 win in conference play.

Sophomore Blake Benson scored his first goal as a Mustang just six minutes into the second period, making him the team lead in points with six. He was assisted by junior Kyle Lightfoot for his second of the season and senior Evan Beers collected his first assist and second point of the season.

Manhattanville would strike for the equalizer four minutes later on the Mustangs' penalty kill, but another four minutes elapsed before Stevenson scored the go-ahead goal. Senior Eric Olson notched his first goal of the season with assists going to classmate Zach Egber and junior Nick Dineen. The assists were Egber and Dineen's third and second points of the season, respectively.

Junior Ty Outen earned his third win of the season in a 29-save effort. He made 11 saves in both the second and third periods as the Valiants failed to even the score.

In the circle, Olson won a team-high 12 draws, followed by Benson with nine. Senior Zach Bannister and junior Graeme McCrory each tallied eight wins.

The win puts the Mustangs at 4-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in UCHC play. They look to extend their win streak to three tomorrow at 3 p.m. when they round out their series against the Valiants.
