Women’s Ice Hockey downed by No. 14 Cortland

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Women's Ice Hockey hosted Cortland again today to round out their season-opening series with the Red Dragons. Fourteenth ranked Cortland scored three goals in the first, two in the second, and one in the third to earn an 8-0 win.

Sophomores Mallory Hunt and Maggie Sehnert both saw time in net, totaling 45 saves. Hunt made 18 saves, including 14 in the first period, before Sehnert entered in relief. Sehnert made a season-high 27 saves, 21 of which came in the third period alone.

In front of Hunt and Sehnert, junior Maddie Silverman and sophomore Kendall Girnt both tallied four blocks, followed by junior Megan Wick, sophomore Jayne DeBejian, and first year Lola Russell with two apiece. The Mustangs would register 16 blocks on the day.

Offensively, sophomore Meghan Croyle led the charge with three shots, while Swick and senior Emily Brightbill trailed with two each. Silverman and Russell would both get shots off as well.

In the circle, first year Carleigh Barwick won a team-high seven draws with senior Cassie Campbell winning six.

The Mustangs are back at Reisterstown Sportsplex next Friday and Saturday, November 3rd and 4th, to host defending UCHC champion No. 11 Nazareth University in their conference opener. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM on Friday and 3 PM on Saturday.
