FREDERICK, Md. – A goal from
Emma Gladstein at the end of the third quarter on an assist from
Lauren Schulz was all that Stevenson needed as the Mustangs (11-8, 4-3 MAC Commonwealth) clinched a spot in the upcoming postseason with a 1-0 win over Hood on Saturday.
With the win, the Mustangs finished in a three-way tie with Widener and Albright. With each team going 1-1 against each other, the second tie-breaker was goal differential. Stevenson was plus 1, while Widener was minus-1.
After the tie was broken, eliminating Albright, Widener won the head-to-head matchup with Stevenson and was awarded the third seed.
Stevenson will be the fourth seed and will take on top-seeded Messiah on Wednesday night in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals. This will be the first time the Mustangs have appeared in the postseason since 2015.
Stevenson outshot the Blazers 18-2 and outscored them 18-1 in the win.
Eve Vickery and
Jordan Vradenburgh split time in goal, with Vrandenburgh netting a save.
