READING, Pa. - Stevenson Field Hockey traveled to Alvernia University tonight for a MAC Commonwealth matchup with the Golden Wolves. The Mustangs would come home with a one-goal win.
The first quarter remained scoreless, with Stevenson registering no shots and Alvernia generating five. The Mustang offense would change the pace in the second quarter, totaling three shots and limiting the Golden Wolves to just one.
In the offensive charge of the second quarter, junior Nicole Ziegler capitalized on a setup from first-year Monica Druckemiller at the 22-minute mark. The goal was Ziegler's third of the season, while Druckemiller's assist was her fifth.
The Mustangs continued to play solid defense throughout the remainder of the game, and both senior Eve Vickery and first-year Jordan Vradenburgh were perfect in net. Vradenburgh made four stops in the first half before Vickery made two to close out the game.
Senior Emma Gladstein accounted for three of the Mustangs' shots on goal, while Ziegler and senior Rylee Leakway contributed two apiece.
With the win, the 2023 Mustangs become the first field hockey team to generate double digit wins in a single season since 2015. Their win streak stands at two, and they look to extend it to three with their final regular season game at Hood on Saturday, October 28th at 2 PM.
