OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Field Hockey hosted Eastern University in today's homecoming, senior day matchup. Despite a scoreless first quarter, the Mustangs would turn up the offense to come away with a 4-0 win.
Senior Emma Gladstein scored her 15th goal of the season in an unassisted effort late in the second quarter. Before the half expired, classmate Meghan Huey put up her fifth goal of the season, also unassisted.
To start the second half, Gladstein would collect her 16th goal of the season, finishing the play started by Huey and junior Paige Wilson.
A late third-quarter penalty corner inserted by Emma Gladstein would be converted into a goal from classmate Rylee Leakway for the fourth and final score of the game. The goal was Leakway's fifth of the season.
The Mustangs outshot the Eagles 31-1, with 17 of those shots landing on goal. Gladstein led the offensive charge with six shots on goal, followed by Kosanovich and Leakway with three apiece. Huey and sophomore Emilie Rankin notched two each and first-year Joslin Cain notched her first collegiate shot.
In net, senior Eve Vickery made the lone save, bringing her save total to 38 on the season. She now boasts six of the Mustangs' nine wins.
With the win, the Mustangs improve to 9-8 overall and 2-3 in conference. They look to continue tallying MAC Commonwealth points with their upcoming contests at Alvernia University (October 25th at 7 PM) and Hood College (October 28th at 2 PM).
