Men’s Soccer blanks Albright in MAC Commonwealth play

READING, Pa. - Stevenson Men's Soccer traveled to Albright College this afternoon for a MAC Commonwealth matchup with the Lions. A productive first half on offense would be all the Mustangs needed to come away with a 3-0 win.

First-year Eli Geist scored his first collegiate goal a mere 19 minutes into the match. His efforts were unassisted in what would prove to be the game-winner.

Following Geist at the 26-minute mark was his classmate Brian Rogowski, who notched is second goal of the season. Rogowski scored his first collegiate goal last Saturday against York, and is tied for first on the team in goals. He leads in points with five thanks to his assist registered against Salisbury in September's home-opener.

The third and final goal was scored by sophomore Gianfranco Vitella with under two minutes remaining in the half. Vitella is tied with Rogowski for goals this season, having scored his first collegiate goal against Salisbury, assisted by Rogowski.

The Mustangs registered 21 shots opposed to Albright's five. Rogowski, Vitella, and junior Sergio Tamayo accounted for a game-high three shots each, followed by first-year Landon Eaton and juniors Bryant Seivers and Joe Nicholson with two apiece.

Four of the Lions' shots were on goal, and all were rejected by sophomore Nolen Olson-Warwick. He now has 76 saves on the season with a 1.78 goals against average.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 1-2 in conference play. Stevenson returns to Owings Mills East on Wednesday, October 18th at 6 PM to host Widener University for Central Carroll Soccer Night.
