OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Field Hockey hosted Lancaster Bible College tonight in a non-conference matchup. Before the game, the Mustangs and Chargers united to honor those affected by breast cancer, and the game was dedicated to helping raise awareness and funding.
The first quarter would remain scoreless, but junior Nicole Ziegler would break the stalemate in the final minutes of the second quarter. Her penalty corner pass would go to first-year Monica Druckemiller, who soon returned the pass to Ziegler before she found the back of the net. The goal was Ziegler's second of the season, while Druckemiller recorded her fourth assist on the year.
In the third quarter, sophomore Emilie Rankin put up her first career goal. After receiving the corner pass from senior Emma Gladstein, she fired a shot through net-front traffic to record her first collegiate points.
Gladstein herself would tally her 13th goal of the season, and her combined efforts against the Chargers elevated her season point total to 33. She leads the MAC Commonwealth in goals by five and points by 15. Her seven assists also lead the conference with the next closest player total sitting at five.
First-year goalkeeper Reagan Wildasin earned her first collegiate start and victory on Owings Mills East tonight.
With the eighth win of the season, second year head coach Morgan Bitting beats her previous single-season win total with another five games remaining in the regular season.
The Mustangs return to Owings Mills East on Saturday, October 14th at 1 PM to host No. 8 York College of Pennsylvania.
