ROCHESTER, N. Y. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team dropped a UCHC contest to 12
th ranked Nazareth by a score of 7-0 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 5-7 and 3-5 in UCHC play while Nazareth improves to 11-2 and remains undefeated in UCHC contests at 10-0.
The Golden Flyers began on offensive barrage in the opening period but
Olivia DeGuire tallied 24 saves over the first 19 minutes of play before Nazareth eventually sent one past her. The Golden Flyers added their first goal at 19:00 in the first period with a power play goal from Nikolle Van Stralen.
A big second period from the 12
th ranked Nazareth squad set the Golden Flyers at a 5-0 advantage. Abby Flanagan added an unassisted goal at 1:41 in the second while Audrey Donahue deposited a goal at 6:25. The Golden Flyers added their second power play goal of the evening at the 12:35 mark off the stick of Julia Holmes. Morgan Leuenberger rounded out the second period scoring with a goal at 13:49. Deguire would add four more saves in the period, bringing her game total to 34 through two periods.
In the final period, Flanagan added her second goal of the game at the 11:00 mark. Maggie Pfalzgraf added the final tally of the game at 14:07.
DeGuire finished the game with 45 saves. Tea Ferrera lead the game with nine faceoff wins.
Stevenson will face Alvernia in its next matchup on January 13 at 3pm in Reading, Pa.
