Women’s Hockey Drops to LVC in Shoot Out

REISTERSTOWN, Md. – Olivia DeGuire put up 34 saves for Stevenson (7-10-1, 5-8-1 UCHC, 3-4-1 MAC) in the tight knit match up against Lebanon Valley (8-10-1, 5-8-1, 3-2-1 MAC) on Saturday evening.
 
The beginning of the first period consisted of a hard-fought battle between the squads until the Dutchmen opened scoring in the contest at 19:15 to take a 1-0 lead into the second period. In the second period, both teams dueled through a scoreless period.
 
The Mustangs came out hot in the third period as Cassie Campbell put a goal away off a puck from Hannah Labbe at 1:54 to tie the match. At 9:34, Emily Brightbill put away a power play goal with assists from Campbell and Labbe to take the 2-1 lead. Four minutes later, LVC tied up the game 2-2. The Mustangs continued high offensive pressure as they outshot LVC 18-9 in the third period, but the teams landed in overtime.
 
After a five-minute period of 3-on-3 overtime, the contest remained at a 2-2 tie heading into a shootout. The shootout concluded with a goal from LVC's fourth member to finalize the shootout win for Lebanon Valley.
 
The Mustangs will remain home at Reisterstown Sportsplex to host the Chatham University Cougars next Friday. First face-off is slated for 3 p.m.
