REISTERSTOWN,
Md. – For the second consecutive game the Stevenson men's ice hockey team (9-9-1, 5-6-1 UCHC) and Chatham (10-4-2, 8-3-1 UCHC) needed overtime to decide a winner. The Mustangs eventually conceded a goal in overtime to fall 5-4 to the Cougars.
Stevenson opened the scoring in the first period with two goals from Connor MacDonell. The first year forward deposited the first goal at 6:40 with assists from
Kyle Lightfoot and
Alex Rivet. The trio paired again to net the Mustangs' second goal at 13:31 for a 2-0 lead.
Marko Sturma tallied 15 saves in the period to seal the lead into the first intermission.
Despite the Mustangs out-shooting the Cougars 15-11 in the second period, the Cougars found a surge and scored three unanswered goals in the frame. Stevenson earned four power play chances in the period, adding 10 shots on goal but were unable to convert a goal.
The Mustangs were able to convert a power play goal just 1:01 in the third period to tie the game at three goals a-piece.
Aidan McDowell found the back of the net with assists from
Liam McCanney and
John Musella. Chatham regained the lead with a power play goal at 8:25 from Caden Smith. At 17:30 in the third McCanney tied the game once more with the third power play goal of the period, forcing an overtime period.
Stevenson began the overtime period on the power play but were unable to send the game winner past Chatham goalie Ricardo Gonzalez. The Cougars earned a power play and Andrew Warhoftig converted their second power play goal of the night to win the game.

- Liam McCanney added a goal and an assist and now totals 24 points.
- Kyle Lightfoot added two assists, his second multi-point game this season.
- Marko Sturma recorded a career-high 32 saves.
