REISTERSTOWN, Md. – Seven different skaters scored as the Stevenson men's ice hockey team defeated Arcadia 7-1 Friday night at the Reisterstown Sportsplex. With the victory, the Mustangs remain undefeated in MAC play at 7-0 while improving to 10-9-1 overall and 6-6-1 in UCHC play. Arcadia falls to 5-11-2 overall, 3-8-2 in the UCHC and 4-3-2 in the MAC.
Stevenson senior
Austin Master wasted little time returning to the Mustang scoresheet following his appearance at the FISU World University Games. Master deposited the game's first goal at 5:18 in the first period with an assist from
Liam McCanney. Stevenson out-shot Arcadia 12-5 in the period with
Ryan Kenny, who also appeared at the FISU World University Games, stopped all 12 shots he faced.
The Mustangs used a strong second period to put the game largely out of reach, depositing four goals in the middle stanza alone.
Eric Olson added a power play goal at 4:01 with assists from
Frank Vitucci and
Jack Karlsson. Stevenson continued its offensive attack, ripping another 13 shots on goal before
Alex Rivet found the back of the net at 17:07. Just 42 second later
Brendan Rylott added a goal to put the Mustangs up 4-0.
Frank Vitucci rounded out the second period scoring with a goal at 19:31, giving Stevenson a 5-0 lead.
Stevenson out-shot the Knights 11-5 in the final frame. The Mustangs widened the margin to 6-0 when
Evan Beers added a goal at 11:53 assisted by
Kyle Lightfoot and
Alex Rivet.
Ford DeLoss replaced Kenny in net before Arcadia broke the shutout chance with a power play goal from Connor Bowey at 13:40. Stevenson added its final tally off the stick of
Liam McCanney at 18:44 with
Jack Karlsson adding his second assist of the night.
Numbers and Notes
- Tonight marks the third game this season the Mustangs have found goals from at least seven different players.
- John Musella added two assists to record his first-career multi-point game.
