REISTERSTOWN, Md. -- It took six shootout rounds to settle a victor between the Stevenson men's ice hockey team and Chatham but the Mustangs earned two points and claimed the UCHC contest by winning the shootout 3-2.

The Cougars jumped on the board first with a power play goal from Caden Smith at 11:08 of the fist period. Stevenson added its answering goal with just four seconds remaining in the period.
Aidan McDowell found the back of the net for a power play goal at 19:56 with assists from
Liam McCanney and
Frank Vitucci.

The Mustangs carried their momentum into the second period, adding another goal just 38 seconds into the frame when
Liam McCanney deposited an unassisted goal. Chatham responded with an equalizing goal just 21 seconds late at the 0:59 mark. The Cougars regained their lead with a goal at 10:09 from Caden Smith to take a 2-3 advantage.

Stevenson would knot the game again just 1:16 into the third period with McCanney's second goal of the game. The Mustangs continued their offensive presence, outshooting the Cougars 15-7 in the third period but Chatham would be the first to break the tie. The Cougars added a goal at 18:51 in the third period off the stick of Matthew Doyle but the lead did not last long.
Frank Vitucci tied the game at four goals a-piece just 11 seconds later at 19:02 to force an overtime period.

With both teams unable to net a game winner in the overtime period, the game moved to shootout.

Brendan Rylott converted their shootout chances to give Stevenson the 3-2 shootout win.
