Men’s Soccer Tallies Second Tie to Record at Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN Pa. – The Stevenson men's soccer team adds another tie to their record with a 1-1 draw against Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday afternoon. Both teams remain at 0-0-2 overall.

In the first half, after a few corner kicks and fouls for both teams, Penn State Harrisburg notched the first shot attempt of the match in the fifth minute, coming off the head of Alex Afata. A valiant attempt, it is missed to the right of the goal. Penn State Harrisburg sent home the game's first goal in the 15th minute, off the foot of Marc Rodgers assisted by Dillon Gough.

In the 19th minute, Stevenson recorded the next two shots of the game. One made by Edson DeMata Ribeiro and the other by Saul Martinez.

In the second half Stevenson tied the game in the 72nd minute. The goals was scored off the foot of Tiago Silva and assisted by Joe Nicholson. With both teams possessing strong defense and tallying three saves for Penn State Harrisburg and two for Stevenson, the Mustangs made big pushes for the rest of the second half. The resulting draw was not able to be broken.

  • Desperate to take the lead, the second half saw Penn State Harrisburg with the three yellow cards accounted for the evening.
  • Goalkeeper Kristian Slaby added two saves on three shots faced.
  • Stevenson edged Penn State Harrisburg in scoring opportunities outshooting their opponent 8-7.
