READING, Pa. – The Stevenson women's volleyball team (14-1, 3-0 MACC) completed its seven-game road trip on a five-game win streak, defeating Albright (9-4, 0-3 MACC) in straight sets in MAC Commonwealth play Tuesday evening at the George C. Bollman Center. Set scores were 25-16, 25-11, 25-16.
In the first set, Stevenson out-hit the Lions .485 to .273 and put down four aces. First-year Giulia Vigletta led the Mustangs with four kills and a 1.000 hit percentage in the frame.
The Mustangs started red-hot in the first set, winning the first six points capped with an ace from
Makala Thompson. A five-point run for the Mustangs opened a 16-7 advantage with two aces from
Haley Hoover and kills from
Kylie DesLauriers and
Shannon Baily. Stevenson completed the set with a kill from DesLauriers for the 25-16 victory.
Stevenson continued to serve well in the second set, putting down another four aces in the frame while out-hitting their opponent .382 to .182. Stevenson sprinted to a 15-7 advantage with a three-point run which included two aces from
Kayla Vaeth. The Mustangs finished the frame on a 7-1 tear with kills five different players and capped with a kill from
Molly Joyner to seal the 25-11 victory.
The Mustangs out-hit the Lions once more in the third set, hitting .375 over Albright's .214 and sending down three aces. Stevenson led the set wire-to-wire, taking the first six points of the set once again. Albright knotted the frame at 11 points a-piece before Joyner put down a kill followed by an ace from
Rileigh Kimball to leverage a narrow 13-11 lead.
Stevenson moved its advantage to 19-14 with a three-point run sparked by a kill from
Shannon Baily. Stevenson wrapped up the set on a 7-1 run which included three kills from Kimball and was polished off with another kill from Joyner for the 25-16 victory.
Numbers and Notes
- Stevenson tallied 11 aces in the match, the fourth time the team has recorded double digit aces this season.
- The Mustangs added a season-best .414 attack percentage.
- Sarah Straub and Giulia Viglietta each added a .600 hit percentage, totaling 10 kills between the pair.
- Shannon Baily racked up another 11 kills in the match, the ninth match she has eclipsed the double-digit kills mark.
