Owings Mills, Md. - The Stevenson women's soccer (0-5-1) team came up scoreless Saturday, Nov.17, as they visited Marymount University (1-4-1), who earned their first win of the season.
The lone goal of the game came from the Saints' Hanna Asanovich within the first minute of action.
Ericka Kitzinger led the Mustangs with two shots on goal.
The Saints opened the first half with an early goal from Asanovich,
assisted by Brenna Harkins 22 seconds into the match. During the remainder of the first half, the two teams traded shots, with the Mustangs recording five to the Saints' seven. Each team also tallied four corner kicks.
Stevenson turned up the pressure in the second half. In the final 23 minutes, the Mustangs recorded six shots, with three on goal coming from
Michelle Mesquita,
Lily Johnson, and
Cassidy Butler. The Mustangs out shot the Saints 7 to 3, forcing goalie Hannah Mockenhaupt to make four saves. The Saints had six consecutive fouls over the half, while Stevenson recorded just two.
The Mustangs next play the Shenandoah Hornets on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at Mustang Stadium. Marymount is in action again Sunday, Sept. 18 against Notre Dame of Maryland University.
