Men's Tennis Drops Tight Contest to Marymount in Fall Opener

STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team opened up its fall slate of matches with a 5-4 defeat to visiting Marymount.

The Mustangs opened up doubles play with two victories. 

Lukas Sanidas and Garrett Warren picked up a solid 8-6 win in No. 2 doubles, while Sathwik Madasi and Niko Bifsas cruised to an 8-2 win in No. 3.

However, the Mustangs would drop four of the six singles matches. 

Larry Johnson III (3-6, 1-6), Sanidas (4-6, 3-6) and Bifsas (1-6, 1-6) would drop their respective singles matches. 

Sathwik Madasi cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 4, while Simeon Smith won his No. 5 match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. 

Nathan Davidson overcame a one-set deficit but would eventually fall in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.

Stevenson will conclude its fall slate of team matches on the road against McDaniel on Monday, September 26 at 4 p.m.
