Mustangs' Defense Earn Scoreless Tie

Owings Mills, Md. – The Mustangs' women's soccer team (0-4-1) ended Wednesday night's game against St. Mary's  College of Maryland (1-3-3) in a scoreless draw in the Seahawks' Jamie L. Roberts Stadium.

Stevenson's Courtney Wysokowski delivered another impressive performance in the goal cage, making eight saves, as the Mustangs' offense continues to struggle.

Wysokowski made the first save of the game after a free kick and a quick shot from the Hawks at 2:20. The Mustangs countered with a Samantha Wilson shot that sailed high right. Stevenson's Michelle Mesquita was given a yellow card at 37:46. Stevenson tested the Hawks' goalkeeper Audra Haines only once in the first half, as the Mustangs' three other shots missed the cage. Wysokowski registered five saves in the half.

The second half started with a Stevenson shot, but St. Mary's turned up the pressure, spending most of the half in the Mustangs' zone. The Hawks totaled six consecutive shots as the Mustang defense blocked three. St. Mary's forward Ella Rains registered an impressive three shots on goal with another three going wide.

The Stevenson team will end their four-game road swing at Marymount (Va.) on Saturday, Sept. 17, beginning at 3 p.m.
