Mustangs come up Scoreless in Loss to Johns Hopkins

Owings Mills, Md. – The Stevenson men's soccer team lost 2-1 Wednesday night against #12-ranked Johns Hopkins University.

Goalkeeper Kristian Slaby made a season-high eight saves, while Alex Whamond and Ian Whamond scored Hopkins' goals.

Slaby was tested early, having to make a save within the first two minutes of action and again at the four-minute mark in the first half. After two consecutive fouls on the Mustangs, Hopkins' Tim Treinen was handed a yellow card. Despite this, the Blue Jays controlled most of the first half, as they registered 12 shots to the Mustangs' 3.

The Blue Jays picked up the second half right where they left off, quickly forcing another save from Slaby. Hopkins found the back of the net at the 72nd minute mark, with a goal from A. Whamond assisted by Giulian Laudisa. Two minutes later, the Blue Jays struck again, this time from I. Whamond assisted by Laudisa. In the final minutes, the two teams traded shots before a yellow card was handed to Stevenson's Edson Ribeiro.

The Mustangs return home on Saturday, Sept. 17, to take on Catholic University, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
