OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's volleyball team (7-0, 1-0 MACC) swept Arcadia (6-2, 1-0 MACF) in straight sets before downing Cabrini (4-3, 0-0 AEC) 4-1. The set scores against Arcadia were 25-13, 25-23 and 25-21 while the set scores against Cabrini were 26-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 26-24.
Match 1 vs Arcadia
The first set began tightly contested, enduring nine tie scores and seven lead changes. The sides traded rallies to a 9-9 tie before the Mustangs riffled off a 9-1 run which included two kills from
Rileigh Kimball and a kill and two aces from
Shannon Baily. The Knights paused the Stevenson momentum momentarily, narrowing the lead to 18-12.
However, the Mustangs would rally off the set's final seven of eight points with Kimball tallying four more kills in the frame.
Kylie DesLauriers finished off the impressive Mustang run with back-to-back kills to give Stevenson the first frame win at 25-13.
Arcadia sprinted out to an 8-1 lead to begin the first set, taking advantage of a few Stevenson attack errors. The Mustangs chipped away at the Arcadia lead, finding themselves in a 14-21 deficit before
Molly Joyner could send home a kill to halt Arcadia's momentum.
The Mustangs embarked on a strong 11-2 run to polish off the comeback. The set's lone tie score came at the 23-23 mark followed by the only lead change of the frame when
Makala Thompson earned an ace. The Mustangs took the final point of the frame on an attack error, taking the set 25-23.
The final frame was also tightly contested with 10 tie scores and six lead changes. The Mustangs earned a little separation with a three-point rally to take a 13-10 lead. The sides traded rallies before Arcadia overtook the lead with back-to-back aces to earn an 19-17 lead. Stevenson responded with back-to-back block assists before
Samantha Simmers added a kill to take a 20-19 lead. Arcadia added the final tie of the frame at 20 a-piece before Stevenson riffled off five of the next six points to take the final set 25-21.

Sarah Straub added kills on the run while
Kylie DesLauriers picked up the final kill.
Match 2 vs Cabrini
Stevenson found itself in an early deficit in the first set against Cabrini, trailing 13-10. A service error gave spark to a five-point Mustang run that swung 16-13 lead to Stevenson.
Makala Thompson added a kill and an ace during the run. The sides traded points before Cabrini could regain the lead with a three-point run to a slim 19-20 lead. Stevenson notched the next four of five points to gain the slim margin back at the 24-21 mark with a kill from
Molly Joyner and and an ace from
Hannah Naja. The Cavaliers knotted the set at 24 a-piece with a three-point run but a kill from
Shannon Baily followed by a
Makala Thompson ace gave the opening set to Stevenson.
The Cavaliers screamed out to a 12-4 advantage to start the second set before Stevenson could slow their momentum. However, the Cabrini momentum was not stalled for long as it carried a 10-18 lead before
Giulia Viglietta notched a kill to spark a three-point Mustang rally.
The Mustangs continued to chip away, utilizing a three-point run and four-point run to narrow the lead to 22-23 in favor of the Cavaliers. However, the Mustangs could not overtake the Cabrini advantage and dropped the set 23-25.
The third set was again tightly contested with seven tie scores and two lead changes. Stevenson utilized even scoring with kills from Straub, Joyner, Baily, Hoover and DesLauriers to haul out to an 14-9 advantage.
Cabrini embarked on a 7-1 run to knot the frame at 17 a-piece. The Mustangs answered with a 5-1 run to the 22-18 mark, which saw a kill from Joyner and aces from
Samantha Simmers and
Shannon Baily. Cabrini outscored the Mustangs 4-3 in the following points but ran out of time as Stevenson took the third frame 25-22.
Stevenson jumped to an 8-2 advantage to kick off the fourth set before Cabrini would narrow the lead to 8-7. Stevenson chipped away a 13-10 advantage when
Kylie DesLauriers sent home a kill. The sides traded points before the Mustangs could string three points together with kills from
Rileigh Kimball and
Molly Joyner and an ace from Kimball.
Cabrini used a four-point rally to take an 18-19 lead. The Mustangs responded as
Shannon Baily sent home three consecutive kills and paired up with
Haley Hoover to block the Cavalier attack to take a 19-22 lead. Cabrini continued to close, tying the match at 24 a-piece with a 5-2 run. However,
Kylie DesLauriers did not faulter in the moment, clinching the match for the Mustangs with back-to-back kills.
