Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The Stevenson softball team handed Messiah University their first MAC Commonwealth loss of the season as pitcher Marissa Heuer threw her second no-hitter of the season. The Mustangs won, 2-0 before falling, 4-1 in game two.
The first game for both teams was slow as the Mustangs scored in the second and fourth while allowing no hits and no runs for Messiah. In the bottom of the second Sierra Stark reached first on a walk and then ran home as Rivers Edwards hit a double to left center. To start off the fourth, Megan Hamp singled then advanced to second on a throwing error by the third basewoman. Hamp then advanced to third on a ground out to the pitcher. Heuer hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Hamp.
Game 1 Notes:
- Heuer picked up her seventh win of the season in the circle and earned her second career no-hitter as she struck out five.
- Edwards went 1 for 3 with a double and a stolen base.
- Hamp went 1 for 3 with one run scored.
- Messiah only had two runners reach base due to walks.
In game two Messiah fought back to seal their 4-1 in the top of the seventh. The Falcons got on the board first after an RBI double. In the bottom of the fourth, the Mustangs just missed out on a run after Maddie Bosley tripled to right field. Bosley was then out at home on a fielder's choice. Stevenson put up their lone run of the game in the sixth. McKenzie Tobler bunted for a single, then Kat Perea bunted for a single to advance Tobler. On a sacrifice bunt, Tobler advanced to third. Stevenson managed to tie up the game with a RBI sacrifice fly to center field. Messiah gained momentum as they brought in three runs in the seventh.
Game 2 Notes:
- Bosley went 1 for 2 with a triple.
- Tobler went 1 for 2 with one run scored.
- Fangman went 1 for 2 with a RBI, and two stolen bases.
Stevenson returns next Saturday, April 16th as the Mustangs travel to Hood for a 1 PM conference doubleheader.
