FREDERICK, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over host Hood - improving their conference record to 2-0.
Senior Larry Johnson III and junior JJ Bonta won their third match out of four with an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles. Senior Lukas Sanidas and sophomore Sathwik Madasi shutout their opponents in No. 2, 8-0. Stevenson won No. 3 singles by default.
Johnson III overcame a one-set deficit to pick up his second win in a row in No. 1 singles, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5. Porto dominated his opponent in No. 2 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score, while Sanidas won his No. 3 match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
Bonta won his fourth match out of the last five in No. 4 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Freshman Niko Bifsas won by the same score in No. 5.
The Mustangs won in No. 6 singles via default.
Stevenson (5-8, 2-0 MAC) faces off against Loyola (Md.) in a non-conference road match on Thursday, April 7.
