Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The Stevenson University softball team split with the University of Mary Washington on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. The Mustangs won game one, 4-3 but fell, 8-6 in eight innings in game two.
Stevenson started the scoring in the bottom of the third. Maddie Bosley reached first on a fielder's choice and then stole second base. Megan Hamp singled up the middle to bring home Bosley. Mary Washington tied it up at 1-1 in the top of the fourth but then added two more runs to take a 3-1 lead.
The Mustangs cut the Eagles lead as Hamp hit a single RBI to second. Stevenson secured their win by putting up two runs in the bottom of the seventh. McKenzie Tobler started off the inning with a single up the middle and after a Bosley walk, Tobler advanced to second. On a throwing error by the catcher, Bosley advanced and then Tobler ran home. After a ground out to second, Bosley advanced to third. Kat Perea hit a walk-off single to the shortstop to bring Bosley across home plate.
Game 1 Notes:
- Marissa Heuer (6-3) pitched all seven innings totaling three strikeouts while allowing three runs.
- Bosley went 0 for 3 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
- Hamp went 2 for 4 with two RBI.
- Perea went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
- Tobler went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
Stevenson carrier their momentum from the end of game one into the beginning of game two. The first two innings were scoreless, but Stevenson got rolling in the third inning. Tobler started off the third with a double to left center. Fangman and Tobler switched placed with Fangman's RBI double to left center. Bosley bunted for a single then advanced on an error by the third basewoman and Fangman crossed home plate. Hamp singled down the left field line to bring home Bosley.
Mary Washington took over the next few innings as they scored one in the fourth, one in the sixth and then homered in the seventh to tie up the game at 3-3. As the Eagles forced an eighth inning UMW tacked on five more runs to secure their 8-6 win. The Mustangs picked up three more runs in the bottom of the eighth, but it wasn't enough. Asia Reeves hit an RBI single to shortstop. Rebecca Henry hit an RBI single to left center to bring home Perea. With the bases loaded a walk brought in Stevenson's final run.

- Tobler went 1 for 3 with a double, and a run scored.
Stevenson returns tomorrow, April 6th as they travel to our nation's capital to face Catholic starting at 3 PM.
