Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md.- Stevenson softball clinched the No. 4 seed in the MAC Commonwealth tournament on their way to sweeping Albright on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Stevenson won, 6-2 (9inn) and 2-0.
The Mustangs and Lions went into extras as Jillian Haines hit a walk-off two run homer in the final inning, lifting Stevenson over Albright, 6-4. Albright started off the top of the first with an RBI single. In the third, McKenzie Tobler started off the inning with a double down the third base line and then advanced on a passed ball. The Mustangs got on the board as Kat Perea singled through the left side scoring Tobler.
Albright took a 4-1 lead after the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth with two outs, Marissa Heuer hit a home run to left center. With the score at 4-2 Lions, Stevenson added one in the fifth. Perea singled through the left side and advanced to second on a ground out. Jordan Fangman doubled down the left field line to advance Perea. A sacrifice fly to right field scored Perea.
Stevenson tied up game one, 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh. Maddie Bosley doubled down the left field line and then advanced on a passed ball. On a fielder's choice, Bosley scored. The eighth was scoreless and in the top of the ninth, Heuer struck out the final two batters to give Stevenson a chance. Rebecca Henry singled up the middle. Haines then hit a walk-off two-run homer to win, 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth.
Game 1 Notes:
- Heuer threw 152 pitches on her way to the win. She tied for a season-high nine strikeouts against the Lions.
- Haines went 2 for 5 with one run scored, two RBI, and a homerun.
- Henry went 2 for 5 with one run scored.
- Perea went 2 for 5 with one run scored and one RBI.
- Heuer went 1 for 3 with one run scored, one RBI, and a homerun.
Game two was more low-key for both teams as Stevenson won, 2-0 and allowed only one hit. The first three innings were scoreless. The two lone runs of the game were scored in the bottom of the fourth. Fangman started off the inning with a single up the middle. Megan Hamp doubled and then advanced to third on the throw which brought Fangman home. Haines singled to right center, scoring Hamp.
Game 2 Notes:
- Jenna Sadowski pitched a complete game, recording four strikeouts while allowing one hit.
- Hamp went 2 for 3 with two doubles, one run scored, and a RBI.
- Fangman went 1 for 3 with one run scored.
Stevenson will face Eastern on Thursday, May 5 at 10 AM at MAC Commonwealth tournament site, Alvernia.
