STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team shutout visiting Albright on Senior Day by a 9-0 score at the Greenspring Courts, improving its conference record to 6-1 on the year and clinching the second seed in next week's MAC Commonwealth semifinal against Messiah.
Seniors Larry Johnson III and Lukas Sanidas cruised to an 8-0 victory in No. 1 doubles to open the day, while junior JJ Bonta and Ben Porto won by the same 8-0 score.
Sophomore Sathwik Madasi and freshman Niko Bifsas won their No. 3 match by an 8-4 score.
Porto picked up his sixth win of the year in his No. 1 match by shutting out his opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Johnson earned his seventh win of the year in a 6-3, 6-0 triumph.
Both Bonta and Sanidas overwhelmed their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. Bonta now has 11 wins on the year, while Sanidas has seven.
Freshman Simeon Smith won his No. 5 match in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5. Junior Dylan Gettier won his No. 6 match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Stevenson (9-10, 6-1 MACC) will take on third-seeded Messiah in a MAC Commonwealth semifinal, held at the Greenspring Courts, on Wednesday, May 4.
