Box Score 2 WESTMINSTER, Md.- The Stevenson softball team totaled 23 runs in the afternoon doubleheader with non conference opponent McDaniel, Thursday. The Mustangs fell 12-4 in game one while blowing away the Green Terror, 19-5 in game two.
In game one, Megan Hamp and Rebecca Henry started off the scoring as Elizabeth Russo and McKenzie Tobler picked the up RBIs. McDaniel recorded their first run in the bottom of the second, to cut the lead to 2-1. With the third inning scoreless for both teams, the Green Terror really got things rolling in the fourth as they put up eight runs. After four, McDaniel held a 9-2 lead over Stevenson. The Mustangs tried to get back in it in the top of the fifth by adding two more runs but it just wasnt enough as McDaniel took game one, 12-4. In the fifth, Kat Perea singled up the middle and then advanced on a ground out to third. A Hamp double to right field scored Perea. As Rivers Edwards singled through the left side, Hamp crossed home plate.
Game 1 Notes:
- Hamp went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, a double, and a RBI.
- Maddie Bosley went 1 for 3 with a double.
Game two flipped the script as Stevenson won 19-5. The first inning started off interesting as the Mustangs led, 3-2 after one. Perea doubled to left field starting off the game and then scored as Fangman reached on a throwing error. The following two runs were also unearned as the Mustangs reached home on errors. Stevenson picked up the pace in the second inning adding a whoping ten runs to take a 13-2 lead. In the second inning ten runs scored on seven hits and two errors. The Green Terror scored one in the bottom of the second two add to their two runs.
In the third, Stevenson just added one run to bring their total to 14. Tobler singled to center field for an RBI. The Mustangs tacked on another in the fourth as Jillian Haines singled to center field to score Hamp. In the bottom half of the inning, McDaniel brought in two more runs. To finish things off, Stevenson closed out game two with four more runs in the fifth. With the bases loaded, Bosley reached first on a fielding error by the shortstop to score Lauren Brightwell. Jordan Fangman hit a RBI single up the middle scoring Tobler. On a fly out to left field, Perea ran home. Haines then doubled to right field to bring in Bosley.
Game 2 Notes:
- 19 is the most runs scored by the Mustangs since 2019 when Stevenson put up 28 runs on Trinity (D.C.).
- 15 hits for the Mustangs is tied for the most this season. Stevenson recorded 15 hits in the 11-3 win over Suffolk (3/16).
- Game two was no short of errors as McDaniel tallied nine.
- 17 of the 19 runs for the Mustangs were unearned.
- Perea went 3 for 5 with three runs scored, one RBI, and a double.
- Bosley went 2 for 4 with three runs scored, three RBI, and a double.
- Hamp went 3 for 5 with three runs scored, three RBI, and two doubles.
- Haines went 3 for 5 with two runs scored, four RBI, and two doubles.
The Mustangs are back at home one last time as they host Albright this Saturday, April 30th for one more conference doubleheader.
