Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The Stevenson University softball team got back to their powerful ways, Saturday afternoon on senior day taking game one from Widener, 8-0 in five innings. The Mustangs then fell, 4-2 to the Pride in game two.
Stevenson struck first in the bottom of the first after the Widener pitcher walked in two Mustangs. In the second with the bases loaded, a sacrifice fly to center field brought home McKenzie Tobler.
Stevenson added two more runs in the third to take a 5-0 lead over the Pride. In the third, Rebecca Henry singled to third base and then stole second. Tobler then doubled to center field to bring Henry home. Tobler advanced to third on a passed ball and was brought home after a Kat Perea double to right center. The Mustangs again added two more runs in the following inning. RBI singles from Rivers Edwards and Henry scored Jordan Fangman and Megan Hamp.
In the bottom of the fifth, Maddie Bosley reached on an error by the second basewoman. Hamp doubled down the first base line bringing in Bosley to end the game in five innings.
Game 1 Notes:
- Marissa Heuer earned her ninth win of the season with just three losses. The senior struck out two while allowing five hits and no walks.
- Hamp went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, one RBI, and a double.
- Edwards went 1 for 2 with two RBI.
The Mustangs scored their lone two runs in the first two innings as they fell, 4-2. Hamp singled to right center and then advanced on the throw as Bosley scored in the first inning. Widener scored two runs in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead. Lauren Riesberg singled up the middle and then advanced to second on a ground out. On an error, Riesberg scored to tie up the game 2-2.
Game 2 Notes:
- Hamp went 2 for 3 with a RBI and a stolen base.
- Tobler went 0 for 2 with a RBI.
The Mustangs are back at it tomorrow as they host No. 2 Salisbury for a 1PM doubleheader.
