READING, Pa. - The Stevenson men's tennis team cruised past host Alvernia by a 7-2 score - giving them sole possession of second place in the MAC Commonwealth standings.
Senior Larry Johnson III and junior JJ Bonta picked up their sixth win of the year in an 8-2 triumph in No. 1 doubles. Junior Ben Porto and senior Lukas Sanidas fell in a heart-breaking match, 8-7 (7-3).
Porto dominated his opponent in No. 1 singles by a 6-0, 6-1 score - giving him five wins on the year. Johnson III won his sixth match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
Bonta improved his record to 10-6 on the year after overcoming a one-set deficit to win his No. 3 match, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Sanidas earned his sixth win of the year in a 6-3, 6-3 triumph, while Madasi won his sixth match of the year, 6-1, 6-1.
Freshman Niko Bifsas won his No. 6 match, 6-3, 7-5 - giving him seven victories on the year.
Stevenson (8-9, 5-1 MACC) concludes its regular season on Senior Day against Albright on Saturday, April 30. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
