ST. DAVID'S, Pa. - The Stevenson men's tennis team opened up its MAC schedule with a 9-0 win over host Eastern.
Senior Larry Johnson III and junior JJ Bonta won their second match out of the last three with an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles. Junior Ben Porto and senior Lukas Sanidas cruised to an 8-3 victory in No. 2, while sophomore Sathwik Madasi and junior Chad Smialek dominated their opponents in No. 3, 8-2.
Johnson III took down his No. 1 singles opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, while Porto swept his No. 2 match by a 6-0, 6-0 score.
Sanidas triumphed in No. 3 by a 6-3, 6-0 score. Bonta won his third match out of the last four with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Madasi and freshman Niko Bifsas took their No. 5 and 6 matches in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively.
The Mustangs (4-7, 1-0 MAC) travel to Salisbury to take on the Seagulls on Sunday, April 3. First serve is set for 10:00 a.m.
