Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- No. 18 Stevenson men's lacrosse powered past Alvernia with a 23-2 win in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth opener on Saturday night at Mustang Stadium.
Stevenson (5-4) continued its dominance in MAC Commonwealth play, pushing its all-time regular season mark in conference games to 62-0. The Mustangs had no shortage of offense, using a 10-0 second quarter to put the game out of reach before the intermission.
The Mustangs had 10 different goal scorers in the opening half, with Josh Brannan registering four tallies with one assist. Jack Scaliti posted a pair of goals and handed out three assists in the opening half for the Mustangs, which racked up over 50 shots in the opening 30 minutes and 90 on the night.
Stevenson held Alvernia (1-9) without a shot in the second quarter and began working in all parts of the lineup into the second half. Alvernia leveled the score at one in the first quarter before Stevenson opened the floodgates with six of the next seven goals to end the frame. The Mustangs posted a pair of man-up goals while adding a man-down marker with Ed Masterson and Scaliti to hand all the momentum to the hosts.
Colin McFadyen and Cade Campbell scored for the Golden Wolves while starting goalie Dane Sabarese was strong with 16 saves on the night.
Stevenson scored 10 goals in the second period for a 17-2 halftime lead, including goals for Lucas Ingley, Grant Zick, Cam Leydig and Nolan Enneguess. Marc Poust played the first half in between the pipes for the Mustangs, collecting a pair of saves before giving way to Justin Scorese and Logan Moore.
Andrew Searing notched his first collegiate goal in the third with 2:48 remaining for a 19-2 Stevenson advantage before finding the net again to open the scoring in the fourth.
Matt Byron also posted his first collegiate goal, finishing off a pass from Will Riemenschneider with just under one minute remaining.

- Stevenson went 5-for-9 on extra-man opportunities and finished 16-of-17 on clearing attempts.
- Leydig is now one point shy of 8- for his career with a four-point effort on Saturday.
- Ford continues to be a consistent scoring presence for the Mustangs, posting his fourth game of the season with three goals.
- Stevenson last scored 20 or more goals in a game during the 2019 MAC Commonwealth Final against Lycoming.
- Post ticked his career saves total to 396, closing in on becoming just the fourth player in program history with at least 400 saves as a Mustang.
- Stevenson held Alvernia off the board for the final three quarters, marking the second time this season the Mustangs have shut a team out for a half, last coming against Kean.
- Graeme McCrory, a first-year member of the men's hockey team, made an appearance late as Stevenson worked in a large majority of the roster.
