Mustangs Win in 10 Innings before Falling to Hood in Conference Split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FREDERICK, Md.- The Stevenson softball team split another doubleheader in conference action as they won, 3-0 in 10 innings before falling, 3-4 at Hood.

The game started sluggish for both teams as a player didn't reach a base until the third inning. Although the Mustangs totaled eight hits through seven innings, they were unable to capitalize on a run. With the score, 0-0 at the end of seven, the Mustangs and Blazers were forced into extra innings. In the top of the ninth, Stevenson had a scoring opportunity with the bases loaded. Jordan Fangman singled through the left side to bring home the runner, but she was thrown out at home for the third out.

Stevenson put up three runs in the top of the tenth to secure their, 3-0 win over Hood. With a runner placed on second to start, Megan Hamp bunted as she reached first base. Sierra Stark reached second on an error and advanced to second, bringing home Fangman. Heuer then singled through the left side to bring Hamp across home plate. Kat Perea hit a single RBI to bring in the Mustangs final run.

In the top of the third the Mustangs took a 2-1 lead over the Blazers. Hamp hit an RBI single to bring home McKenzie Tobler. Hood brought it back and tied up the game once again in the third. The next few innings were scoreless until Hood added one in the bottom of the seventh to secure their win.

Game 2 Notes:

  • Haines went 1 for 3 with one RBI, one run scored, and one homerun.
  • Hamp went 1 for 4 with two RBIs.
