CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team dropped a tri-match to both Wilkes and host Washington College (Md.) by scores of 6-3 and 9-0.
In the Mustangs' match against Wilkes, junior Ben Porto and senior Lukas Sanidas dominated their opponents in No. 2 doubles by an 8-1 score, giving them two wins in a row. In No. 3, freshman Simeon Smith and junior Dylan Gettier lost a hard-fought match, 8-7.
Sanidas picked up his second-straight win with an 8-1 triumph in No. 3 singles, while junior JJ Bonta (No. 4) picked up his third win in as many matches, 8-0.
Sophomore Sathwik Madasi lost a close match in No. 5 singles, 8-7, while Larry Johnson III and Smith would fall 8-4 and 8-3 in their respective matches.
Against the Shoremen, Johnson and Bonta (No. 1) and Porto and Sanidas (No. 2) both dropped their doubles matches by scores of 8-2, while Smith and Madasi (No. 3) fell by an 8-6 score.
Johnson and Sanidas both fell in their singles matches by scores of 8-3 for the Mustangs.
Stevenson (2-2) competes next in a spring break match against Carthage College (Wis.) at the USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla. on Monday, March 14.
