ORLANDO, Fla. - The Stevenson men's tennis team picked up its third win - and second of the spring - in an 8-1 rout of Scranton at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Senior Larry Johnson III and junior JJ Bonta won a hard-fought match in No. 1 doubles by an 8-6 score, while senior Lukas Sanidas and junior Chad Smialek cruised to an 8-2 triumph in No. 2.
Sophomore Sathwik Madasi and freshman Simeon Smith dominated in their second doubles win of the season, 8-3.
Sanidas and Madasi picked up straight-set victories in their respective No. 2 and No. 4 singles matches. Bonta swept his No. 2 opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Smith won in a dramatic third-set tiebreak, 6-1, 2-6, 11-9, to pick up the victory. Freshman Niko Bifsas won his No. 6 match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
The Mustangs would later fall in a highly competitive match to Colby-Sawyer by a 5-4 score to conclude the spring break trip. Stats for this match are unavailable at the time of publication.
Stevenson (3-7) opens up its MAC schedule in a match at Eastern on Saturday, April 2.
