MacDonell Adds Two Goals as Mustangs Down Nazareth 7-3

REISTERSTOWN, Md. – First Year Connor MacDonel added two goals and an assist for his first career multi-point performance as the Stevenson men's ice hockey team (5-5-0, 2-4-0 UCHC) downed Nazareth (6-4-0, 5-2-0 UCHC) by a score of 7-3 Friday night at the Reisterstown Sportsplex.
 
Stevenson started strong, depositing its first shot on goal in the back of the net for the game's first goal. Connor MacDonnell added his first tally just 2:40 into the first period, with assists from Brendan Rylott and Alex Rivet. Ryan Kenny added five saves over the next 2:30 before the Mustangs added their second goal.
 
Jake Roberts picked up a loose puck at his own blue line before charging to the crease and ripping a shot past the Nazareth goalie on the glove side at 6:50. Stevenson added one final goal in the opening period at 16:14 when Evan Beers found the back of the net assisted by Alex Rivet and Connor MacDonell.
 
The Mustangs carried their momentum to the second period, depositing a power play goal just 1:04 into the middle frame. Austin Master netted the extra man goal with assists from Frank Vitucci and Liam McCanney. Ryan Kenney added another five saves before Nazareth added its first goal.
 
Logan Tobias netted a power play goal at 5:03 to cut the Stevenson lead to 4-1. The Golden Flyers added a second power play goal at 8:11 when Blake Frost found the back of the net to narrow the gap to 4-2. Stevenson stretched its lead back to three when MacDonell netted his second goal of the night at 19:40 with assists from Brendan Rylott and Nick Dineen.
 
Zach Egber added another goal for Stevenson at 3:36 into the third to move the Mustang lead back to four. Nazareth was quick to respond with a second goal from Logan Tobias at 6:20. Ryan Kenny stopped the next six shots he faced before Anthony Starzi deposited an empty net goal at 19:02 to round out the scoring.
