REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson men's ice hockey team dropped a United Collegiate Hockey Conference contest to Nazareth 4-1 Saturday afternoon at the Reisterstown Sportsplex. With the loss the Mustangs fell to 5-6 overall and 1-5 in UCHC play while Nazareth improved to 7-4 and 5-1 in UCHC play.
The first period was tightly contested with both teams taking seven shots on goal and each goalie stopping all of the shots he faced.
The Golden Flyers earned a 5-on-3 power play which the Mustangs were able to kill off. However, Nazareth opened the scoring in the second period one second after the extended power play opportunity conlcudded with a goal from Joshua Dressler at 16:54. Liam Beaudoin and Keith Davenport added the assists.
Ryan Kenny stopped the other 11 shots he faced in the period while Matt Syles stopped all seven shots taken by the Mustangs.
Dressler added a second goal just 27 seconds into the third period, assisted by Matt Stanek and Henry McKinney. Nazareth increased its lead to 3-0 with a goal from Ethan Louisos at 5:15, assisted by McKinney.
The Mustangs added a goal at 12:16 when
Liam McCanney found the back of the net, assisted by
Jack Karlsson and
Austin Master. Stevenson emptied the net for an extra skater in the final two minutes of the period. Nazareth closed the scoring with an empty net goal from McKinney at the 18:52 mark.
