CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior
Franki Cappello scored the lone Mustang goal as the Stevenson women's ice hockey team (2-2) fell to 14
th-ranked SUNY Cortland (2-0) 1-8 Saturday afternoon.
Cortland scored the game's first goal four minutes into the first period on a shot from Dany Donegan. Cortland earned two power play chances in the first period, registering six shots all saved by
Ainsley King. However, Cortland was able to take advantage of its second power play chance when Donegan netted her second goal of the game. The Red Dragons added one more goal in the opening period to take a 0-4 lead into the first intermission.
SUNY added three goals in the second period opening a 0-7 lead. The Mustangs fired seven shots in the second period, breaking their scoreless drought on a goal from
Franki Cappello, assisted by
Katelyn Reid.
The Red Dragons added their final tally at 2:44 when Natalie O'Brien found the back of the goal, assisted by Ainsley Delacourt and Jillian Hlasnik. Olivia DeCuire stopped 11 shots to close out the game.
What's Next
- The Mustangs kick off UCHC play with a home-and-home series against Neumann. The first matchup will be Friday November 11 at 3pm at the Reisterstown Sportsplex.
