REISTERSTOWN, Md. – First year defenseman Aidan McDowell tallied his first two career goals, both on the power play, as the Stevenson men's ice hockey team (1-1-0) picked up its first victory of the 2022-23 campaign with a 4-0 shutout over SUNY Canton (1-1-0) Saturday evening at the Reisterstown Sportsplex.

Three minutes later, Liam McCanny gave Stevenson a two-goal lead with assists from Anthony Starzi and Master.

The second period saw 11 penalties, giving way to one power play opportunity for the Roos while Stevenson earned five. The Mustangs recorded 12 shots on their power play opportunites but they were all stopped by Canton goalie Filip Schlyter.

McDowell added his second goal of the game just 41 seconds into the third period, again on the power play to give Stevenson a 3-0 lead. Liam McCanny added an assist on the goal. With 30 seconds remaining in the game, Brendan Rylott forced a turnover to earn a breakaway chance, carrying the puck to the offensive zone and turning it to his forehand to beat the Canton goalie on his glove side.
