WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Stevenson football team (5-2, 3-2) MAC scored 24 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Lycoming (2-4, 1-3 MAC) 24-10 Saturday afternoon at David Person Field. The win snaps a two-game losing streak to MAC opponents for the Mustangs.
Senior
Ryan Sedgwick finished 24-33 with 216 passing yards and a touchdown, with seven different receivers recording a reception.
Elijah Marquez rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown on 28 attempts while
Maurice Hammond added a touchdown. Emmanual Ekop, Jr. caught seven passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.
How it Happened
- Lycoming forced an interception in Stevenson territory to set up a 36-yard field goal off the foot of Ian Plankenhorn for the game's first score.
- Marvin Manassa intercepted a Will Fisher pass to end a 10-play Warrior drive and keep the game within one score.
- Lycoming put together a 7-play, 80-yard drive resulting in a 38-yard touchdown pass to Billy Coppock from Hunter Shearer to start the second half in increase the Lycoming lead to 10-0.
- The Mustangs answered with a 9-play, 73-yard drive capped off by an 8-yard Sedgwick pass to Emmanuel Ekop for a touchdown. Sedgwick went 5-5 on the drive and connecting with four different receivers.
- Corey Jones-Pentz earned another interception at the Lycoming 2-yard line, giving Stevenson possession well inside the red zone.
- Maurice Hammond found the endzone on a one-yard rush to give Stevenson a 14-10 lead.
- Brody Campbell hit a 30-yard field goal to cap a 10-play drive and give the Mustangs a 17-10 lead.
- Edward Mannone recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff at the Lycoming 30-yard line to give the Mustangs back-to-back possesions.
- Elijah Marquez found the endzone on a one-yard rush to give Stevenson a 24-10 lead.
The Stevenson defense allowed -12 yards to Lycoming in the final 10 minutes of the game to hold onto the 24-10 victory.
