OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson's field hockey team blanked conference opponent Hood College on October 12, shutting out the Blazers 3-0.

Haley Palmer had a strong performance in the game, opening with a goal in the 10

Carolyn Braziel notched her first goal of the season in the 13
th minute, securing a 2-0 lead for the Mustangs by the end of the first quarter.
The Blazers pitched a tough defensive battle, notching nine total saves. Junior attack
Emma Gladstein's two penalty corners before the ninth minute created the opportunity for the Palmer to get the Mustangs on the board. Stevenson closed the first quarter with a second goal off a penalty corner from Gladstein.
The Blazers continued their defensive battle going into the second quarter, blocking a shot from Palmer in the 25
th minute and denying an end-of-quarter shot from sophomore attack
Alexa DeFeo.
The third quarter opened with four Mustang attempts within a minute of each other, all denied by Blazer goalkeeper Richana Brown. The lone penalty stroke of the match followed two denied attempts by sophomore midfielders
Rylee Leakway and
Logan Beaty.
Gladstein secured the win for the Mustangs in the fourth quarter on a shot with assistance from junior forward
Macy Kosanovich. Though one shot was blocked and another just wide, the Blazers were able to notch a few attempts towards the end of the match.
The Mustangs improved to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Hood College fell to 4-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
