Santa Cruz, Calif. - The Stevenson Men's Volleyball team downed Slug Slam host UC Santa Cruz in straight sets before falling to Menlo College 3-0.

• Set scores were 25-22, 25-11, 25-18.
• A tightly contested first set saw 9 ties and 4 lead changes before the Mustangs could rattle off a 7-2 run to seal the set.
• Stevenson added separation in set two with an 8-0 run sparked by a Tim Flanagan kill and included an ace by Michael Dougherty.
• Stevenson never trailed in set 3 and held a lead as large as 8. 
• Flanagan, Tanner Stauffer and Aleks Melbardis added 10 kills each to lead the match.
• Dougherty added a match-leading three aces.

• Set scores were 25-14, 25-8, 25-17.
• Stevenson fell to a 9-0 deficit to start set one which it could not overcome.
• Ryan Thenell added an ace and two kills as the Mustangs dropped set two.
• Thenell and Tim Flanagan added two kills each as Stevenson dropped set 3.

• Stauffer notched 32 kills on the weekend.
• Dougherty added six aces in the tournament to lead the team.
• Justin Novoa handed out 76 assists to lead the Mustangs.

• Stevenson is back in action Friday, January 21 to take on Southern Virginia at Penn State Altoona.
• The Mustangs will then head to the Juniata Tournament to take on Mount Union and Dominican (IL) on Saturday, January 20th.
