Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Ninth-ranked Christopher Newport scored eight second half goals while the 12th-ranked Stevenson men's lacrosse team was held to just two as the Captains defeated the Mustangs, 10-5, in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Second Round Sunday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
- The Captains (12-5) scored the first goal of the game at the 9:23 mark, as Coby Auslander found a wide open Alex Brendes back-door for a quick release shot.
- Just 1:09 later, junior Cam Leydig got the Mustangs (9-2) on the board with an unassisted goal in transition.
- On the ensuing face-off, Stevenson was whistled for the first penalty of the game but senior Marc Poust made a save before classmate Matt Wilson forced a turnover.
- Down the other end, junior Ryan Coleman scored an unassisted goal after running in and scoring on a bounce shot, giving the hosts its first lead with 6:27 remaining.
- The Mustangs had their first man-up opportunity of the contest but did not get a shot off in the 30 seconds.

- On the first possession of the second half, the Captains tied the game at 3-3 as Brendes netted his second goal of the contest.

- Poust made back-to-back saves but Christopher Newport maintained possession, leading to a goal by Bradu Altobello, for a 9-5 lead, before Altobello scored two minutes later.
- Christopher Newport outshot Stevenson, 47-31, and held a 41-31 edge in ground balls.
- With the win, the Captains tie the all-time series at two wins a piece, including the second straight in the series.
- Hanway finished with 12 saves for the visitors, including nine in the second half.
- It is just the second game in 11 games this season, Stevenson has allowed double digit goals, both coming versus top-10 opponents.
