ROME, Ga. - The Stevenson men's tennis team fell by a 5-0 score to 38th-ranked Babson College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Senior Ray McDermott and junior Larry Johnson III dropped a competitive 8-5 match in No. 1 doubles, dropping their season record to 7-2.
Senior Richie Abruscato and sophomore Ben Porto fell in their No. 2 match, 8-1, while senior James Waychoff and junior Lukas Sanidas fell in No. 3 by the same score. Abruscato and Porto finish their season at 5-4, while Sanidas and Waychoff end their campaign at 7-2.
Sanidas and Waychoff dropped their No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches in straight sets, which clinched the victory for Babson. The Mustangs were trailing in each of the remaining four matches that went unfinished.
Babson will take on the winner of Emory and John Carroll in the third round.
The Mustangs end their season with a record of 8-3.
