Mustangs Drop MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinal Doubleheader Versus LVC

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University softball team closed out the 2021 season on as they fell to Lebanon Valley in the MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinals at Weinberg-Fine Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

  • WP: Sarah Musselman (7-4); LP: Morgan Fulton (8-5).
  • With one out and Julia Forsythe reaching first on a fielding error, Julia Craig scored the first run for Lebanon Valley (16-14).
  • After Kylie Balthaser stole second, Lindsey McCurdy singled down the right field line for Hannah Bashore to score for the Dutchmen. 
  • With two outs at the top of the fourth inning, McCurdy and Balthaser scored to extend their lead by four when Sarah Musselman singled to right field.
  • At the top of the fifth inning, Balthaser reached first on a Stevenson throwing error and advanced to second for Sam Burns to score, 5-0.
  • At the bottom of the fifth inning, with McKenzie Tobler on third, Fangman on second after a steal and Kayla Briles on first, Morghan Fulton flied out to right field on a sacrifice fly for Tobler to score to put Stevenson (18-10) on the board.
  • The Dutchmen scored three more runs at the top of the sixth to win the first game 8-1, Musselman, Jen Kaufman, and Craig each scored.

  • WP: Jordan Walter (6-7); LP: Marissa Heuer (8-3).
  • Craig flied out on a sacrifice fly for Kaufman to score the Dutchmen's first run of the game at the top of the first.
  • Musselman reached first on a Stevenson fielding error for Balthaser to score and extend their lead by two at the top of the second.
  • With two outs and Balthaser on second and Burns on third, Musselman doubled to left field for a double RBI.
  • After Musselman stole third, Kaufman singled to left field for Musselman to score the third run of the fourth inning for the Dutchmen, 5-0.
  • Megan Hamp and Sierra Stark each singled at the bottom of the fourth inning.
  • With no outs, Bashore and Tori Hunyara each scored at the top of the sixth exending the lead by seven.
  • To cap off scoring for the day, Musselman scored when Forsythe singled to right field. Later, Forsythe advanced on a wild pitch for McCurdy to score the 10th run of the game at the top of the sixth.
