No. 8 Mustangs Finish Regular Season Unbeaten With Victory at Hood

FREDERICK, Md. - Highlighted by a career-best seven ground balls and five caused turnovers by senior Matt Wilson, the 8th-ranked Stevenson men's lacrosse team finished the regular season unbeaten as the Mustangs posted a 16-7 MAC Commonwealth victory over Hood Tuesday evening at Thomas Athletic Field.

  • On the Blazers (4-4, 3-3 MAC Commonwealth) first offensive possession, the hosts drew a penalty flag after a pushing call against Stevenson.
  • Hood needed just 13 seconds before team leading scorer, Bentley LeBarron, gave the Blazers an early one-goal lead.
  • After four turnovers, the Mustangs (7-0, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board with an unassisted tally from junior Ryan Coleman.
  • With 53 seconds left in the opening quarter, junior Connor Nelson gave this visitors a 2-1 lead.

  • Junior Cam Leydig found the back of the net just 38 seconds into the quarter before senior Lewis Anania scored after a failed clear by the Blazers.
  • At the 10:41 mark, Tatum netted his first goal of the night before scoring again just 21 seconds later.
  • Tatum and John Harrington scored back-to-back less than a minute apart before Nelson scored on the Mustangs first man-up opportunity.
  • After Tatum scored his second goal of the night, Hood stopped Stevenson's 10-0 run with 1:02 remaining.
