STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team cruised to its second-straight win in a 9-0 triumph over visiting Eastern. The victory pushed the Mustangs' record to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Senior Ray McDermott and junior Larry Johnson III won their second match of the year in No. 1 by an 8-1 score, while senior Richie Abruscato and sophomore Ben Porto took down their No. 2 opponents by an 8-3 margin. Senior James Waychoff and junior Lukas Sanidas won their fourth match of the year in No. 3, 8-1.
McDermott shutout his opponent in No. 1 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score, improving his season record to 4-0. Abruscato won his No. 2 match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.
Sanidas won his fourth-straight match and first in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Waychoff improved his record to 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 4.
Sophomore Dylan Gettier picked up the win in No. 5 by a 7-6 (6-2) 6-2 score, while sophomore JJ Bonta won his match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The Mustangs will take on Stevens in a non-conference road match on Friday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
