No. 25 Softball Splits With Widener, Fulton Hits Two Home Runs in Game One

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Graduate Morghan Fulton hit two home runs in an eight inning walkoff in game one against Widener on Saturday, April 17 at Weinberg-Fine Stadium. The Mustangs defeated the Pride in game one, 4-3, and fell to the Pride, 5-3, in game two. 

  • WP: Fulton (7-4); LP: Kait Jaworski (2-9).
  • Jordan Fangman advanced to third on a wild pitch and Kayla Briles stole second, Fulton homered to left field for Stevenson (17-7, 13-5 MACC) to score three runs at the top of the first inning.
  • At the top of the sixth inning, Widener (11-13, 7-11 MACC) scored three runs when Lindsey Cooper reached first on a fielder's choice for Jania Lawerence to score. Cooper advanced to third on a passed ball for Benozich to score, and Cooper scored when Carli Benozich fouled out right field through a SAC, 3-0.
  • Fulton homered for the second time of the game for an eighth inning walkoff.

  • WP: Jennifer Sieminski (6-4); LP: Marissa Heuer (8-1).
  • At the top of the first, on a Becca Tiley reached first on a fielders choice, Benozich scored a run for the Pride. Later, Cooper scored when Malia Calciano singled to left field. For the Pride to lead 3-0, Liv Robinson advaned to third on a passed ball and Tiley scored.
  • At the bottom of the first, the Mustangs got within one of the Pride when Fulton singled to the left side for Briles and Fangman to score.
  • Kat Perea tied the game when she scored a run on a Sierra Stark singled to the center field. 
  • The Pride scored two runs in the top of the eight inning, Tiley and Cooper scored on a Calciano singled to center field.

  • The Mustangs totaled 16 hits on the day.
  • Stevenson recorded seven RBIs.
  • Four different players walked in game one, while two walked in game two.
  • Fulton had seven pitching strikeouts and walked just one.
  • Fulton totaled six RBIs.
  • Briles, Fangman, and Maddie Bosley each stole one base.

  • The Mustangs travel to Widener on Sunday, April 18 for a 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. doubleheader at Widener University Softball Park.
