Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. -The Stevenson University softball team opened it's 2021 season against Hood on Saturday afternoon to win both game in the doubleheader. The Mustangs defeated the Blazers in game one, 4-0, and in game two, 9-0.
- Stevenson 4, Hood 0; WP Morghan Fulton, LP: Belle Bortner.
- Stevenson (2-0) got on the board first at the bottom of the second inning Megan Hamp singled to left field to send Alex Digrande and Jillian Haines in to score two points, 2-0.
- At the bottom of the fifth inning, Jordan Fangman advanced on two, following Kayla Briles singled through the left side of the field while advancing to second and Fangman scored for the Mustangs, 3-0.
- Fulton came in and doubled to left field to send in Kayla Briles for a run at the end of the fifth inning, 4-0.
- Stevenson 9, Hood 0; WP: Haley Monahan, LP: Lindsay Wilson, Angela Acampora.
- At the bottom of the first, Fangman stole a base to land on second, Fulton hit a fly out to center field to advance Fangman to third, following was Marissa Heuer who singled to right field to send Fangman in for a scored run, 1-0.
- With two outs at the bottom of the second inning and Sierra Stark on third, Maddie Bosley singled to left field for Stark to score a run for the Mustangs, 2-0.
- The bottom of the third, Briles stole to second and then advanced to third on a fielding error to then score a run for Stevenson, 3-0. Fulton scored an unearned run on a Heuer single up the middle of the field.
- With Stark and Kat Perea on first and second, Marisa Tobler singled down the left field line to send in a run for Perea and Stark on second, Stark scored an unearned run at the bottom of the fifth, 6-0.
- Four different players scored on the bottom of the third for the Mustangs.
- At the bottom of the fourth and bases loaded, Stark doubled to right center for Perea, Morgan Thayer, and Faith Rhodes all to score 3 runs for Stevenson, 9-0.
- At the top of the fifth, the Blazers collected two outs, Barthlow doubled down the left field line for Hetzel to advance to third, but Gosline fouled out at bat and did not obtain any runs for the Blazers. The Mustangs ended the game at the fifth inning, 9-0.
- Stevenson finished with 19 combined hits.
- The Mustangs had nine different playes scores runs on the afternoon.
- Hamp recorded two RBI's in game one while Stark had three and Heuer had two.
- Stevenson travels to Messiah on March 13 for a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Starry Softball Field.
- The Mustangs will host Messiah on March 14 at Weinberg-Fine Stadium for a doubleheader at 1:00 pm and 3:00 p.m.
