Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University softball team hosted Messiah at Weinberg-Fine Stadium in Owings Mills on Friday afternoon. The Mustangs fell to the Falcons in game one, 9-4, and in game two, 4-1.
- Messiah 9, Stevenson 4; WP: Madison Walter (1-0), LP: Morghan Fulton (1-1).
- With Alexa Burger on third for the Falcons, Karlee Stocksdal grounded out to second base for Burger to score for Messiah, 0-1 at the top of the first inning.
- At the top of the second inning, Brynne Baker was on second before McKenzie Shannon singled to shortstop for Baker to score for the Falcons.
- With two outs, Burger homered to center field to score Elianna Litwin and Shannon and herself, 0-4.
- At the bottom of the third, the Mustangs put two runs on the board, with two outs and Megan Hamp on third, Jordan Fangman singled up the middle for Hamp to score. Fulton singled to centerfield for Fangman to score one for the Mustangs, 2-4.
- At the top of the fourth, Messiah scored two runs as Shannon scored through a throwing error and Olivia Denmark scored after she had stolen third.
- Kat Perea doubled to center field, followed by advancing to third on a wild pitch, Hamp grounded out to third base for Hamp to score for Stevenson, 3-6.
- The Mustangs collected one run at the bottom of the fifth when Fangman scored on a Fulton single to shortstop.
- At the top of the sixth, Baker on third and Paige Eakes advancing to second on a wild pitch, Baker scored. Later, Eakes scored as Shannon grounded out shortstop, 4-9.
- Messiah 4, Stevenson 1; WP: Brynne Baker (1-0), LP: Haley Monahan (1-1).
- The Falcons scored three runs at the top of the first inning, Burger advanced to second on a throwing error and Sarah Lippin reached first for Burger to score one.
- Bases loaded for the Falcons, Baker singled to the left side for Isabel Seise and Shannon to score, 3-0.
- The Falcons scored in the second inning on a Lippin run through a Seise singled to centerfield.
- With two outs and Hamp on second at the bottom of the seventh, McKenzie Tobler singled to to the right side for Hamp to put Stevenson on the board to finish the game, 1-4.
- Fangman, Fulton, and Hamp each finished with two hits in game one.
- Fulton had three pitching strikeouts and two RBIs in game one.
- Tobler had one RBI in game two.
- Jenna Sadowski had four pitching strikeouts in game two.
- The Mustangs travel to Messiah on Saturday, March 13 for a doubleheader at Starry Softball field at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Stevenson is back in action next weekend against MAC Commonwealth opponent Lebanon Valley. Stevenson will host the Dutchmen on Saturday, March 20 at 1:00 and 3:00 for a doubleheader before traveling to Annville, Pa. on Sunday, March 21 for a doubleheader against the Dutchmen at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at LVC Softball Park.
