OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Logan Smiley totaled 33 kills over two matches as the Stevenson University men's volleyball team opened its season with a doubleheader sweep of Widener by 3-0 scores Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference action.

• Set scores were 25-13, 25-14, 25-12.
• Stevenson (2-0, 2-0 MAC) never trailed in the first set and used a 5-0 run to open up a 16-4 lead following a block by Elliot De La Torre and Grant Nelson.
• Widener (0-3, 0-3) was held to .000 hitting in the opening frame.
• The Mustangs never trailed in either the second or third sets.
• Smiley led Stevenson with 16 kills on .560 hitting and also posted three service aces and four digs.
• Tanner Stauffer hit .391 and added 12 kills.
• Graduate student Nelson handed out 29 assists.
• Nelson, Stauffer and Mason Scott each posted six digs.
• The Mustangs hit .355 for the match and limited the Pride to -.014 hitting.

• Set scores were 25-13, 25-17, 25-15.
• The Mustangs scored the first six points of the first set and opened a 9-1 lead following a Stauffer kill.
• Widener trailed 14-9 in the second set when Stevenson rattled off three straight points to build a 17-9 lead.
• In the third set the Mustangs led before reeling off five straight points with Derek Tangorra serving to make it 19-11.
• A kill by Smiley closed out the doubleheader sweep.
• Smiley hit .571 in the nightcap and tallied 17 kills.
• Stauffer finished with eight kills and a trio of blocks.
• Nelson finished with 28 assists.
• Tyler Aiello added five kills and four digs.
• Stevenson hit .358 in the second match and held the Pride to .061 hitting.

• Stevenson improved to 7-0 all-time against Widener.
• The Mustangs improved their home win streak to 15 straight matches dating back to the 2019 season.
