Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Stevenson men's lacrosse junior Will Smith netted four goals while senior Ethan Christensen dished our four assists but 18th-ranked Christopher Newport outscored the 16th-ranked Mustangs, 5-3, in the final quarter en route to a 14-13 non-conference victory Saturday afternoon at Jenning Family Stadium.
- The hosts got on the board first but the Mustangs (1-3) quickly responded as sophomore Ryan Coleman scored an unassisted tally just 52 seconds later.
- A couple minutes later, Coleman found the back of the net again on an assist from junior Jacob Tatum before junior John Harrington made it, 3-0, in favor of the visitors at the 9:14 mark.
- Christopher Newport (5-1) responded with three straight goals to take a, 4-3, lead with 4:21 remaining in the opening frame.
- At the 3:11 mark, Coleman picked up his third point of the quarter after feeding Smith for the goal.
- The Captains had the first man-up opportunity of the game early in the quarter but turned the ball over without getting a shot off.
- Smith reclaimed the lead at the 11:46 mark on an assist from Christensen.
- Stevenson's first extra-man opportunity was for a minute midway through the quarter but a shot by sophomore Cam Leydig was saved by Scott McAneney.

- The Mustangs killed off a one-minute man advantage for the hosts with senior Marc Poust making a save that led to a goal down the other end by Leydig.
- Stevenson started the quarter with a 30-second man-up opportunity, and scored just 13 seconds in as Tatum and Christensen connected for the score.
- Just 42 seconds later, Christensen found Leydig to push the visitors lead to, 8-5.
- Smith gave the Mustangs their largest lead of the game at, 9-5, scoring an unassisted man-up goal.
