Box Score REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson men's ice hockey junior Carl Lyden and senior Christian Ripley each recorded four points as the Mustangs cruised to a, 5-1, United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory Saturday afternoon at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
- The Mustangs (15-5-1, 12-2-0 UCHC) went on their first of eight power play attempts after the Valiants (8-12-2, 5-9-1 UCHC) were called for too many players on the ice.
- Alexei Masanko made three stops on the penalty kill, including back-to-back shots by sophomore Ryan Patrick.
- Stevenson went back on the power play at the 5:18 mark with Lyden giving the hosts an early, 1-0, advantage on assists from his linemates, Ripley and senior Dominic Brenza.
- Manhattanville had its first man advantage with 51 seconds remaining in the period. Each team recorded a shot before intermission.
- Lyden netted his second goal of the game at the 6:17 mark. Lyden gained possession at the defensive blue line before a give-and-go with Ripley who had just come out of the penalty box.
- Each team had two more power play attempts in the period, including a penalty by the Valiants that carried over into the third period.
- With 26 seconds still left on the power play, Lyden fired a shot that hit off the crossbar.
- Brenza netted a goal 16 seconds after the penalty expired, getting helpers from Ripley and Lyden.
- Junior Houston Wilson gave the Mustangs a, 4-0, lead at the 2:40 mark on assists from Lyden and Ripley.
- At the 8:41 mark, senor Nick Gray got on the scoresheet, scoring an unassisted goal after a turnover by Manhattanville.
- The Valiants avoided the shutout with a goal with 7:14 remaining in the period.
- Stevenson outshot Manhattanville, 35-15, including, 15-5, in the third period.
- The Mustangs were 2-for-8 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
- Ripley's four goals ties the program record. Brenza recorded four assists in a game earlier this season.
- The four points for both Lyden and Ripley rank tied for second.
- Stevenson returns to action on Friday, February 14 when the Mustangs travel to Nazareth for a UCHC contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
- The Mustangs are back home on Friday, February 21 when the team hosts No. 15 Elmira in UCHC play. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
